MEET OUR FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
Karinda Gill
Founder and Director, Abode Property Management
Karinda was born into a financially challenged family and set about educating herself from a young age with the goal of achieving financial freedom. She moved to the Northern Territory in 1996 with just a car, a van and $1,000, and after many years of hard work and education has gone on to build an estimated $50M empire of residential properties and company shareholdings.
In 2012 Karinda obtained her Principal Real Estate licence and Abode Property Management was born. She created the business out of frustration with other local agencies when her own investment property portfolio grew to a size that warranted a dedicated full-time property manager. For her, it was an opportunity to provide the true asset management service for other investors that she had been unable to find. In her words, it's as simple as ensuring you have contented landlords and appreciated tenants.
Karinda was named the 2017 Telstra Northern Territory Business Woman of the Year, and her company was named the Housing Industry Association Australian Small Builder of the Year. She is very hands on and teaches her team everything she knows, so every owner receives the same knowledge, experience and service levels as if they were dealing with her personally.

Meet the Team
Daniel Shean
General Manager
Darwin born, Daniel brings more than 29 years of leadership experience across policing and the property industry. He served with South Australia Police from 1997 and the Northern Territory Police Force from 2007, rising to Superintendent in 2013, where he led governance, financial stewardship, risk management and workforce capability across metropolitan and remote regions. Daniel joined Abode Property Management in April 2025 as a Property Manager and became General Manager in January 2026. Amongst other qualifications, Daniel holds a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Strategic Management and a Diploma of Property (Agency Management). He leads with integrity, accountability and collaboration.
Tayla Birch
Property Manager
Tayla is Territory born and bred and is a superstar property manager. She builds trusting relationships with both landlords and tenants as well as our tradies who do repairs and maintenance. Tayla is very experienced at doing property inspections and reports, and is responsible for ensuring all properties are well maintained. She works hard to ensure a high level of service for everyone. When Tayla is not at work you might find her somewhere in the bush with her off road buggy!
Michelle Buckley
Maintenance Coordinator
Michelle coordinates trades, tenants and landlords to keep maintenance moving as smoothly as possible. She troubleshoots with tenants to understand each issue, how big it is and how urgently it needs fixing, and counts it as a win when a problem is solved without sending a trade out, saving owners the cost of a call-out. As a homeowner herself, Michelle treats every property as her own: “We only use trades we know and trust, and I'm constantly scrutinising invoices to make sure we're getting value for money.” Outside work she loves reading, AFL (Carlton) and her dog Lillee, named after the great Dennis Lillee.
Irene Babbini
Assistant Property Manager
Irene looks after our property inspections, carrying out routine, ingoing and outgoing inspections, and keeps the day-to-day running smoothly with banking and arrears follow-up. She joined Abode in January 2026, soon gained her interim licence and has completed the Certificate IV in Property Management. Irene takes pride in her key handovers, which have earned excellent feedback from tenants: “Abode does them differently to other agencies, giving tenants a clear understanding of how we operate from day one, which sets the tone for a consistent, positive tenancy.” Outside work you'll find her on her motorbike or at home with her cats.
